Mission Amarillo Response- COVID-19

In order to protect the health of our program staff and their families during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mission Amarillo will do the following:

*Suspend all in-person meetings with mentees in Be-Loved and Driven. Virtual meetings through video conferencing apps, connection through social media, texts and phone calls will be the preferred method of communication for the time being.

*Suspend all ParentChild+ home visits until further notice.

*Issue a Statement of Care (how to care for those in our programs) to our mentors and Early Learning Specialist.  This statement will outline things to watch for, how to meet needs as they arise, and who to notify at Mission Amarillo when they become aware of a need.

*Continue partnering with area churches and organizations to help meet needs as they occur

*Continue Shoe deliveries to the area agencies that are open. As the situation with the schools develop, we will work with school counselors and social workers to find an appropriate way to provide shoes to students that need them.

*Postpone FamFest until the fall. We are currently working with the city, the bands, and all our vendors to reschedule the event for sometime in September.

This is a fluid situation and we will continue to monitor new developments and make changes as necessary to do our part to flatten the curve and curtail the spread of this virus.

As always, we appreciate our volunteers and financial supporters who make our work possible. Please be in prayer for Mission Amarillo as we attempt to navigate these stormy waters so that we may continue to love our neighbor and equip them for life.
