We have made some decisions and purchases that have alleviated some of the low stock in the shoe closet for the time being. First, we’ve decided that we will no longer stock half sizes below a size 1. (Children’s sizes 13 down to infant.) Stores don’t stock many half sizes in this range and kids that need them are usually at an age where they are growing quickly enough that wearing a shoe a half size too big is not an issue. This will simplify the stock we keep and help us maintain an inventory of the smaller sizes.
We are thankful for the funds we have received that has allowed us to purchase shoes that we were out of. At our current pace, the 250 shoes we’ve purchased will be gone by the end of January. In order to continue to meet the needs of the 42 schools we work with, we will need to continue to receive shoes or financial donations. We have shoe barrels and boxes we can deliver to your church, business, school, or civic group so you can collect shoes and help us provide them to students who are in need. If you don’t have time to do a shoe collection, you can support us financially either through Paypal or by sending us a check. If you or your organization send a check, be sure to designate it to the shoe closet. Whatever you do, we appreciate any support you give us as we seek to help the less fortunate in our area.
We give away new athletic type shoes to students in 42 area schools. So far this year, we’ve given away 895 pairs of shoes.
